Apple is doing an amazing strategic marketing job with the rollout of the Apple watch by having it show up first on many famous celebrities wrists. In the photo below we see a custom yellow gold Apple Watch with a matching yellow gold bracelet on legendary beautiful recording artist, Beyonce.
I believe it is inevitable this all gold Apple Watch model will come to market in the future, probably at a price point around the cost of a yellow gold Rolex.
In the photo below we also see Karl Lagerfeld's Apple Watch, which is also a custom yellow gold model like Beyonce.
The list of celebrities that are rockin' Apple Watches is very impressive, and it is awesome to see J.J. Abrams wearing one. J.J. Abrams is the hottest movie director working today, and will likely go down in history as being one of the absolute greatest directors.
The photo above of J.J. Abrams was taken today at the Star Wars Celebration Festival in Anaheim California, where he showcased for the all-new Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser #2 Trailer, which can be viewed below.
The Star Wars Event was amazing, and it included all the primary original cast member as seen below, including Peter Mayew (Chewbacca The Wookie), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Liea) and Anthony Daniels (C3P0). Only Harrison Ford (Hans Solo) was missing, since he is still recovering from his airplane accident.
J.J. Abrams is pictured again below at the end of the event, after he took off his ballcap, and as we see he is wearing what appears to be a custom-made blue Apple Watch Sport Strap, which matches the R2D2 model in front of him (seen in the second photo below).
I must say I believe we are living in the most amazing of times, and to see the already super-iconic Apple Watch next to the super-iconic R2D2, is just amazing and heartwarming at the same time. It also give me a deja vu feeling to see the Apple Watch next to R2D2, and if you think about it, the Apple Watch really is kind of like having your own real life R2D2!!!!
Star Wars has special meaning for me, since I saw it in the movie theaters when I was 10 years old. Along with Raiders Of The Lost Ark, it remains one of my favorite movies of all time, so after all these decades to see the original case return, is a dream come true!!!!!!
You can watch the J.J. Abrams interview in the video below, which I very highly recommend watching!!!!!
This weekend I had the chance to try out the Apple watch in person, and I was completely stunned!!! I mean I was absolutely blown-away!!! If I had to sum up the Apple Watch in three words, I would say: "Innovation, Innovation, Innovation!!!"
In my opinion, a hundred years from today, people will look back at the history of the wristwatch, and there will be three seminal events that will stand out. First would be the development of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual in 1931; second would be the development of the digital quartz watch in the late 1960s, and last but not least, would be the the development of the Apple Watch launched in 2015. Before we look at the Apple Watches up close, I want to share how impressed I was with the implementation of the new Apple Watch Display cases in the Apple stores.
The new Apple Watch display tables by themselves are a work of art. As you see in the photo above, they have all the different models displayed behind glass. These watches are never removed to be shown to customers. Instead, Apple specialists magically swipe what appears to be an NFC device in front of a drawer, which magically opens.
Each Apple Table has six watch drawers, each with one Apple specialist able to access their individually assigned drawer. The gold Apple Watch models (known as WATCH EDITION) are not available in every Apple Store, and you can only see them by appointment is larger Apple stores. Each Apple store that showcases the gold watches shows them in a special room. Today, Apple launched both the Apple Watches, as well as the New MacBook, and the simultaneous launch of these products was different than any other Apple Launch. When Apple iPhones first go on sale in the Apple Store, the stores get really busy, and often times the customers and employees get overwhelmed. Apple decided with the launch of the Apple Watch and New MacBook, to only show them in the store, with the only way to order them online. If you think about it, this is a brilliant innovation in sales technique.
Let's start with the least expensive Apple watch known as the WATCH SPORT. This model is made out of aluminum, and comes standard with what Apple refers to as Ion-X glass. As I understand Ion-X glass is the same glass they use on iPhone 6 screens. Essentially it is scratch resistant, but not as durable as synthetic sapphire crystal.
The watch above has a DLC coating in a color Apple refers to as Space Gray. The WATCH SPORT model comes on a "Flouroelastomer" band which is offered in five different fashion colors, including black, which is seen on the model in the photo above and below. This model has almost a Mil-Spec look to it, and as you see in the image below, it has great curves and lines, coupled with a magnificent fit and finish.
In the image below I compare my 47MM Panerai Marina Militare PAM 587 to the 42MM Apple Watch. My 47MM watch is definitely on the larger size. I think Apple should also consider making a 47MM Apple Watch, but the 42MM is still a very good overall size.
Next up we take a look at the WATCH, which is my favorite model. It has a stainless steel body with a sapphire crystal, so it should be very, very durable.
The stainless steel model is offered with several different bracelet options, which each give the watch a completely different look as illustrated in the above image. On the left, we see the Milanese Loop bracelet and on the right side we see the exact same model, with a "Link Bracelet." In the image below we see the Link Bracelet from the side view. For some reason it reminds me of shark gils or something :-)
The Link Bracelet is a magnificent piece of highly innovative engineering. I was literally stunned with how it worked. As you see in the image below, the bracelet tapers toward the clasp, then the links stay a uniform width. As you can see in the image below, the uniform width links have push-bottons on the back, shaped like Tic-Tacs. If you press on them, they unlink the bracelet, so the end user can easily adjust the bracelet without having to use any kind of tool.
I put together the video below to show the detail of how the Apple Watch Link Bracelet works.
Next, let's take a look at the Milanese Loop bracelet, which gives the Apple Watch a dressier look.
In the photo below of the Milanese Loop bracelet, you see how clean and infinitely modern it looks.
The real beauty of the Apple Watch lies in how modularly easy it is to almost instantly change looks with, and in the photo below we see the navy blue Apple Leather Loop strap.
Last but not least, we see the stainless steel Apple Watch on the black Sport Band. In the future, once I obtain an Apple Watch, I will be publish a more detailed review. As of now, I am extremely excited about the future of the Apple Watch!!!
"The Apple watch is the most advanced timepiece ever created." –Tim Cook
Today, Apple had a special event in San Francisco where they launched formally launched the the Apple Watch, as well as showcasing the AMAZING new MacBook with a twelve inch screen and retinal display that weights only 2 Pounds!!!!! Apple showed off many details for the upcoming Apple watch including pricing and shipping dates. I highly recommend you watch this amazing keynote.
The New MacBook
Worlds Most Energy-Efficient Notebook
The new MacBook was so amazing it almost stole the show, as you can see from the photos below.
Apple CEO, Tim Cook announced today that the Apple watch will be shipping in April of 2015. He said:
"Development for Apple Watch is right on schedule, and we expect to begin shipping in April. Developers are hard at work on apps, notifications, and information summaries that we call Glances, all designed specifically for the Watch's user interface. The creativity and software innovation going on around Apple Watch is incredibly exciting, and we can't wait for our customers to experience them when Apple Watch becomes available."
Cook went on to say:
"My expectations are very high on it. I'm using it every day, and loving it, and I can't live without it. And so I see that we're making great progress on the development of it. The number of developers that are writing apps for it are impressive and we're seeing some incredible innovation coming out there.
And just to clarify, what we had been saying was early 2015, and we sorta look at the year and think of "early" is the first four months, "mid" is the next four months, and "late" is the final four months. To us, it's sort of within the range, so it's basically when we thought.
But most importantly, we're going to be thrilled to start shipping it, because we've got a lot of customers that are wanting to get one."

Welcome To Jake's Apple Watch World
Immediately after the Apple launched the Apple Watch, I knew it was the time for me to create the ultimate Apple Watch Blog.
In early 2008, I began Jake's Rolex World, which over time became what has been referred to as The Wikipedia of Rolex, as well as also being referred to as The Bible Of Rolex.
Since then, I have created several other horological online magazines including Jake's Panerai World, Jake's Patek Philippe World, and Jake's Time Machine. On Jake's Panerai World, I published what is considered to be the definitive online history of the brand.
When Apple finally introduced the Apple Watch on September 9, 2014, I was completely stunned and blown-away at how thoughtfully and beautifully designed it was, thus I realized I had to create Jake's Apple Watch World!!!
From what I have seen thus far of the Apple Watch, I would give Apple an A++ for a 1.0 product, and more importantly, I am fascinated with the future promise of the Apple Watch OS platform.
In the day, months and years to come, I intend to report and share insight into what makes the Apple Watch Tick–Digitally that is...
